Bogotá. The Military Forces certification on Human rights by the United States Department of State, is an acknowledgment to the effort carried out by the Army in this subjec, pointed out General Mario Montoya Uribe, Colombian Army Commander
The statement of the high officer was made once the report was known by that Nations Congress where it is notified that our Country’s Government and Armed Forces are fulfilling with the criteria of respect to the Human Rights.
"The Colombian Army is determined to win the war, under the principles of legitimacy, but this legitimacy is achieved in the measure that we continue increasing the Human Right’s politics. My soldiers, officers and NCO’s are instructed in the defense of this subject. That is completely clear for us", General Montoya added.
The Department of State report motivates us to continue with this politics, to incline in all moments for the Defense of the Human rights. The Army has increased the Human Rights culture, especially in the last two years.
According to the statistics consolidated by the Forces Human Rights Office the Army has trained during the last three years nearly 60 thousand men in Human rights and Humanitarian International Right, developing specializations, international courses, workshops, seminars, and conferences in the different military garrisons of the country.
Amid that campaign many documents related with the rules, protection and defense of the human rights have been published, inside and outside the Institution, remarked the Army Commandant, in declarations given to the Army News Agency, in Bogotá.
