Villavicencio. In joint operations, troops from the 28th Jungle Brigade and Marine Infantry Battalion No. 50 entered into combat with terrorists from FARC’s 16 squad, resulting in the capture of one injured terrorist.
The combat took place while performing the tactical mission in the sector known as Sardinata, municipality of Mapiripan, Meta. On record, it was later found that Raúl Andrés Salas Piraban (alias Salas) had received injuries in his lower extremities, and had been provided with first aid from an Army combat nurse, in order to stabilize his vitals.
Alias “Salas” who belongs to an armed structure called “Chino Feo” from Ont FARC, said his job within the illegal organization was to replace squad members traveling along the Siarare River, providing military support to members of the 39th squad of that organization. The subject was in possession of an automatic weapon, more than 160 rounds of ammunition, clips, a compass and war material.
The injured man was transferred to Cantón Militar at Apiay, by Combat Air Transport Group Nº 2, where he was received by military personnel from Eastern Military Hospital, who stabilized his medical condition and later transferred him to Hospital Departamental del Meta in Villavicencio.
The Commander of the Army’s Fourth Division highlighted the synchronized work performed by Army troops, the Navy and the Air Force. He also commented on the respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Rights as a guarantee for effective and transparent operational results.
