Bogota. In assistance at the event, the Minister of Defense and high-ranking officials of the military, the head of the Army presented the book ‘Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law: The way of the National Army’, today at 7: 00 in the evening, in the Boyacá hall, in the Officers Club due to the celebration of the Human Rights Day and of International Humanitarian Law.
The book deals with an historic vision of the National Army in its protection of the Rights of the people and the application of International Humanitarian Law, within the Colombian context; it explains the current development of the institutional mission within the framework of the actual laws and the constitutional challenges in the consolidation of the Politics of Human Rights, designed and structured by the Head of the Army.
This work seeks to be a mandatory reference text, so much for the military personnel, as for the civilian population, in recognition of the tremendous effort made by the men and women of the Colombian Army in defending the sovereignty, independence and integrity of the national territory and constitution, with full respect to the national and international regulations.
Keeping in mind that the military operations are natural to the National Army, it was also explained how the Human Rights were respected and the way in which International Humanitarian Law was applied on behalf of the persons that plan, ,execute and consolidate them.
Facing these challenges, it is inevitable to strengthen the he relationship between the Castrense Institution and the Civil Population, protection of the Environment and international cooperation.
