The Army shares smiles with children of the 13th Commune in Medellín

Thanks to the work coordinated by different municipal institutions, soldiers from Engineering Battalion No.4 “Pedro Nel Ospina”, had an active participation in the neighborhood activity carried out for the 13th Commune in Medellín – Antioquia.

In addition to providing the necessary security in the different areas of the 13th Commune, Colombian Army troops organized a neighborhood event in the sector called Independence, with participation from the Integral Urban Project for the 13th Commune, along with the Medellín Digital Mobile Unit, the Inder, Recreando and the Unidad de Convivencia, providing didactic games for the children, Internet access and recreation with the Mobile Circus of the Psychological Operations Group from the Fourth Brigade.

With activities, games and smiles the idea is to come closer to the population of this area that is ridden with social conflict, showing them that the best way to live is in peace, where the Army is president not only to protect them but also to provide recreation and accompaniment.

So far this year, there have been seventy neighborhood events favoring 14,000 people, all of which 95% are children. For the year 2010, the Army will continue organizing the exact cities in coordination with the different municipal and departmental entities in order to strengthen institutionality.
