In honor of the liberator and the role played by the cavalry, an evocation is made of the 191 years of the heroic participation of soldiers in the country that forged the crucial Liberation Campaign.
The Colombian Cavalry celebrates 191 years of their outstanding participation on July 25, 1819, at the Battle of Pantano de Vargas, a battle that culminated in the patriot victory that defined the Battle of the Puente de Boyaca and thus the Liberation Campaign New Granada.
In commemoration to this important participation, an anniversary celebration was taken place this Friday at the School of Cavalry of the Army, in North Canton. The ceremony that was attended by the Army Commander, General Óscar González Peña and generals of Staff of the Force.
Within the programs anniversary celebration Cavalry was carried out in the Campo de Paradas, a show and the launch of the Collection Editing Pegasus magazine and book publishing images of the Colombian Cavalry.
For this act, the School submitted its automotive equipment and an imposing armored demonstration of draft horses and carriages.
At the ceremony was granted a Medal to an NCO Wounded in action’, also was awarded the medal "St. George" to 64 officers, noncommissioned officers and civilian personnel of the garrison of Bogotá, and 147 nationwide. Five professional soldiers also received a plaque for 20 years of service.
