As part of the celebration of the Lone Ranger Day, The Governor of Arauca and the Departmental Assembly, awarded Colonel Leonardo Nuñez Ruiz, as illustrious son of this region of the Orinoco, for his outstanding performance as a soldier of the fatherland.
Gen. Rafael Alberto Neira Wiesner, Commander of the Eighteenth Brigade in the company of the governor of the department of Arauca, Engineer Luis Eduardo Ataya Arias, imposed the cavalry officer, José Innocence Chincá a medal in the rank of Grand Cross.
Likewise, the departmental awarded Colonel Leonardo Nuñez Ruiz, the medal Francisco de Paula Santander in the degree Grand Cross. The person in charge to impose the distinction was the deputy Dumar Abel Sanchez.
Colonel Nuñez, who is originally from the city of Arauca, in the year of 1987 in the field stops military school cadets "General José María Córdova", is promoted to lieutenant and in 2007 attained the rank of Colonel .
The Officer is currently serving as Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Fourth Army Division, based in the city of Villavicencio, capital of Meta department.
