With the participation of the Red Cross International Committee, the Third Seminar on International Humanitarian Law Workshop was held at the premises of this Unit, based in Florence.
The seminar was attended by organic personnel of the Tenth Brigade, Mobile Brigade no. 13, Counternarcotics Brigade, Southern Naval Force and Omega Joint Task Force, where they discussed issues of interest including: armed conflict typology, persons and property protected, system protection and assistance to victims of armed conflict .
The panel of speakers was led by the head of the ICRC Sub-delegation in Florence Dr. Marianick Ithurralde, and delegates of the ICRC like Dr. Juan Bautista Rojas and Emmanuelle Birraux, just as Mr. Pio Javier Hernandez for the Colombian Red Cross.
The agenda was focused on developing the commitments of the Colombian oriented to dictate measures and programs that strengthen the state of rights, respecting the constitutional framework and instruments of international human rights and ensuring the observance of humanitarian norms.
In the same sense, the importance of strengthening the legitimacy of the military forces, based on the principles of transparency and effectiveness and full respect for human rights and IHL, on the understanding that the strategic center of gravity of the military forces is legitimacy.
