The facts took place by 10:30 am by the kilometer 84 that leads to Villa Rica that communicates to Santander de Quilichao Cauca.

The terrorists installed an illegal check post and in the moment that they stopped the vehicle, by the road came the professional soldier, from the Ninth Brigade, who was moving in a motorbike in company of a minor, his nephew.

It seems to be that the terrorists thought that the military man, who was in vacations, made part of the escort of the vehicle, and so they proceeded to assassinate him, yet while he was in a defenseless state.

Narvaez Martinez, was from the municipality of Acevedo, had 35 years of age 11 of them at the service of the institution and currently was driver and bodyguard of the Brigadier General Henry William Torres Escalante, Commander of the Ninth Brigade.
During his time on the institution, Narvaez Martinez was always a correct man, accomplisher for his duty and ready to give his life for the Colombians of good will.

The Command of the Ninth Brigade deplores this kind of dementia that drives into mourning to the Colombian people, at the time sends a message of condolences to the family of the professional soldier, asking to the Almighty God to give them strength in order to accept this regretful loss.

The body of the professional soldier will be taken to the municipality of Timaná, in Huila, where he wills receive Christian burial in the middle of military honors.
