During six days military engineers from the 5th Battalion attached to the Fifth Brigade, worked in order to deliver the new structure which allow to communicate the municipality with the Colombian Capital and the jurisdiction of Santander.
The inauguration act was assisted by Brigadier General Juan Pablo Amaya Kerguelén, Commander of the Second Brigade, Mr Jose David Beltrán Ovando, Mayor of Puente Nacional, and members from the Military Engineers Chief Office, soldiers from the 5th Engineers Battalion and the community.
The Commander from the Second Division said that the works headed by the Army through the Military Engineers Chief Office, with help of Colombia Humanitaria, will benefit the settlers of more than three municipalities for a total of 17 thousand persons, that is how 36 soldiers from the Engineers Battalion delivered this ACROW bridge of 48.8 meters with capacity for 50 tons.
The mayor from the town pointed that “for more than a year and a half was useless the pass which affected the economy of the municipality, because also the tourism was affected in the region”.
