Our hero, the young soldier Pedro Maria Ortiz España whose memory is honored today with respect and admiration, was born on June 19 of 1980 in the municipality of Santa María, in Huila, in a home made up by Mr. José Alirio Ortiz Arias (R.I.P) and Mrs. Olga Esperanza España of Ortiz.
His child years were lived in the nature, supported by his parents in the agriculture labors and sharing with his brothers Bellanit, Faiber, Olga and Luz Marina. By the definition of his parents, Pedro Maria was a very tranquil young man, devoted to his home and family; very respectful. His primary studies were made in the Rural School of San Marcos in the town of el Cedral and the high school, till ninth grade, in the Colegio Departamental in the municipality of Santa Marta.
The purpose of accomplishing with his citizen´s obligation, made him part on June 27 of 2002 as a regular soldier in the Artillery Battalion No.9 Tenerife, were he was distinguished by being a devoted, disciplined and loyal soldier.
Before ending his military service, concludes that his life is in the barracks and his desire of keep serving Colombia as a professional soldier. The eleven months and fifteen days he was as a professional soldier where lived intense in the operational maneuvers always fighting with hole decision and strength against the enemies of the Colombian peace.
In the town of El Jardín in the Municipality of Neiva, in Huila on March 20 of 2011, he shined by his bravery and valor, he faced without reserves, with total faith on his homeland´s cause, giving his life in the middle of the pain of his partners who saw him as a hero.
To this hero the homeland who carried his souls as an idea the shadow of a free Colombia without the terror, large in horizons of prosperity, only we have eternal words of gratitude. His example was consecrated, and will be the best memory that we shall keep for always among the soldiers of the homeland.
Our prayers because the soul of the professional soldier Pedro María Ortiz España is in a sacred trail that the Devine Providence has reserved to the good sons of Colombia.
