A cadet from the Military School of Cadets General José María Córdova, national champion of Fencing in the female sword category Laura Castillo is preparing herself to compete in the Pan American Fencing Championship 2018 on behalf of the Military School of Cadets

Cadet Laura Castillo Gutiérrez has been crowned national champion for two consecutive years and has three gold medals in Fencing.
Castillo Gutiérrez, future officer of the National Army, ranked first in the Juvenile Women and Cadets Sword tournament and in the First National Infantile Juvenile and Cadets Ranking, M15, Bogotá 2018, which took place in the High Performance Center of Bogotá.

Likewise, in recent days, she won the gold medal in the category of Female Sword in teams and also in Female Saber in teams during the Third National Championship of Fencing, event that took place in the countrys capital.

Laura Castillo is currently preparing herself at the Military School of Cadets to compete in the Pan American Fencing Championship 2018, in the sword category. The tournament will be held in San Jose, Costa Rica, on March 3.

She has also participated in different international sports venues such as Paris during the Interclub Competition, where she rank third; the Satellite Fencing Tournament in Switzerland; the World Youth Fencing Cup in Germany, and also the South American Games in Argentina, where she won the silver medal, among many others.

In addition, cadet Castillo participated in the Bolivarian Games that took place in Santa Marta, where she obtained the bronze medal, giving a good name not only to the National Army but also to the country.

Just like any other student of the Military School of Cadets, Castillo belongs to the company of athletes, where she not only trains to in different sport disciplines, but also receives militarily training to be promoted to the rank of second lieutenant of the National Army and defend the sovereignty and the countrys democracy.
