The Democracy Plan was activated in Casanare to support the elections that will be held next weekend.
Through the Democracy Plan, the Sixteenth Brigade, attached to the Eighth Division, activated the necessary mechanisms to guarantee security and tranquility during the elections that will be held on March 11, where Colombians will elect the new Congress of the Republic.
The National Army will be present at 86 polling places, corresponding to 120 polling stations of the 19 municipalities of the Casanare department and the municipalities of Pisba and Paya in Boyacá, jurisdiction of the Sixteenth Brigade. It will also support the National Police in other sectors, acting as a second security ring.
For this purpose, troops from the Infantry Battalion No.44 - Ramón Nonato Pérez, the Mounted Cavalry Group No. 16 - Guías of Casanare, the Casanare Military Gaula, the Support and Services for Combat Battalion No. 16 and the Instruction, Training and Retraining Battalion No. 16 have been deployed.
Likewise, the carrying arms with a permit is restricted throughout the entire jurisdiction and the military and police authorities will proceed to seize any firearm, which will have consequences ranging from fines to the definitive suspension of the permit.
