As part of the programming by Colombia Estéreo, the National Army’s radio stations, the program Flor del Monte highlighted the work of First Sergeant David Giraldo, a Colombian military chaplain who is currently accompanying the national contingent on an international mission in the Sinai Peninsula, providing spiritual support and emotional strength to the soldiers deployed in this area.
In this setting, where Colombia is present as part of peacekeeping operations, the chaplain’s support becomes a fundamental pillar for the troops’ overall well-being, especially since they are far from their families and serving under demanding conditions.
During the recent observance of Holy Week, spent on international territory, the chaplain highlighted how faith becomes a key element in sustaining the morale, hope, and commitment of the military personnel, who continue to fulfill their mission with discipline and dedication.
“The soldier who kneels before God is stronger when rising,” he said, highlighting spirituality as a source of strength amid the demands of service.
Likewise, First Sergeant Giraldo underscored the human value of the Colombian soldier, reminding us that behind the uniform are men and women who face physical and emotional challenges in the line of duty.
“Soldiers also get tired, suffer, and feel the harshness of many things,” he affirmed, reinforcing the importance of close support that strengthens their resilience and emotional stability.
In this context, his work transcends the religious to become a constant source of support that drives the troops to remain steadfast in their principles, their vocation of service, and the fulfillment of their mission.
“Let us not grow weary of doing good,” was one of the persistent messages directed at the military, promoting perseverance, discipline, and a sense of duty.
The National Army’s presence in Sinai, through the Colombia Battalion, represents a legacy spanning more than four decades, during which Colombian soldiers have been recognized for their commitment, professionalism, and ability to represent the country with honor on the international stage.
“The soldier is admired by other armies,” noted the chaplain, highlighting the prestige the institution has built on the international stage.
Finally, he sent a message of recognition and encouragement to all the men and women of the Force, as well as their families, extolling the value of the service they provide to the nation.
“You are the pride of the nation… eternal admiration and respect for all of you.”
This type of support demonstrates the National Army’s commitment to the comprehensive well-being of its personnel, strengthening not only their operational capabilities but also their human and spiritual dimensions, even beyond the nation’s borders.
