In Antioquia, Army neutralizes key leader of FARC dissident groups

The military operation took place in the rural area of Palmichal, within the jurisdiction of the municipality of Briceño, where soldiers from Rapid Deployment Force No. 7, in coordination with the CTI (Technical Investigation Corps) of the Attorney General’s Office, neutralized alias “El Turco” during military operations. He is believed to be the fourth-ranking leader of the commission headed by alias “Primo Gay” of the aforementioned criminal group.

This individual, who in the early stages of his criminal career belonged to the ELN’s Héroes de Tarazá Company, was also an expert in the handling and placement of explosives, and had been terrorizing the rural population of the municipalities of Briceño and Yarumal through threats and extortion.

During the same operation, a 7.62 mm Galil rifle, more than 240 live rounds of the same caliber, and 5 magazines were also seized, along with a communications radio, a cell phone, and quartermaster supplies.

The National Army will continue its military offensive against all criminal groups that seek to disrupt the security and peace of the residents living in this region of the country.
