In the downtown of the municipality of Granada, Meta, the troops of Gaula Ariari of the Seventh Brigade, in coordination with the Police Gaula of Meta, took alias Javi, 27, into custody for the crime of extortion. This individual intimidated his victims by posing as a member of the Gaitanist Self-defense Forces or Gulf Clan and charging extortion fees on behalf of said criminal organization.
Alias Javi was caught red-handed while collecting an extortion fee of 5 million pesos from a merchant of the region. This subject was in charge of selecting the potential victims to demand ransoms and usually visited merchants related to the communications sector, such as telephone sales points and repair technicians.
Alias Javi was placed at the disposal of the competent authorities, the Prosecutors Office no. 27 of Granada, Meta, which pronounced an order for preventive detention.
This is an important result achieved by the Multimission Heroes of the National Army, which has a positive impact on the security of Colombians, especially in the Meta region, where this person had been committing this crime for some time.
