So far in 2018, the Seventh Division has achieved 340 captures and 56 voluntary surrenders of members of different organized armed groups that commit crimes in the departments of Córdoba, Antioquia and Chocó.
During the development of military operations permanently carried out in against all criminal phenomena, troops of the Seventh Division of the National Army, in the last hours, captured eleven members of the Gulf Clan and allowed for the demobilization of two guerrillas of the ELN who committed crimes in Bajo Cauca Antioquia.

The first event occurred in the village of Rio Viejo, rural area of the municipality of El Bagre Antioquia, where the soldiers of the Eleventh Brigade, following information provided by military intelligence, took these bandits by surprise. After an arduous process and detailed monitoring that involved more than four months of work, it was established the people captured would be part of the criminal, logistical and financial structure of this organized armed group and would be involved in extortion, drug trafficking and illegal mining.

One of the individuals arrested is Brazilian and was identified as Manoel de Castro Rebelo Silho. Authorities are investigating whether this subject is involved in the construction and adaptation of the so-called dragon (two-story dredges) used for the used for the illicit extraction of minerals from the river.

The detainees were placed at the disposal of the 115th District Attorneys Office of El Bagre to be prosecuted for the crimes of illegal exploitation of mining sites and conspiracy to commit a crime.

On the other hand, thanks to the permanent operations carried out by the Infantry Battalion No.31 - Rifles in Bajo Cauca Antioquia, two members of the ELN decided to demobilize and surrender, delivering abundant war material.

The incident occurred in the township of Puerto López, rural area of the municipality of El Bagre, Bajo Cauca Antioquia. There, these two subjects, a.k.a. Gorra and Jeiner, voluntary surrendered to the military, and also delivered a 7.62mm Galil rifle, an R15 rifle, a 9 mm pistol, a fragmentation grenade, abundant ammunition of different calibers, quartermaster material as well as documentation and devices with important information of that terrorist group, which are currently being analyzed by military intelligence personnel.

According to the information obtained so far, Gorra, who handled and installed explosives, had been a criminal offender in the ELN for over eight years and was the second leader of a group dedicated to carrying out high-impact criminal actions, such as attacks against roads and energy infrastructure, as well as violent actions against the public force and the civil population. The other individual, alias Jeiner, was a member of the FARC for four years, but in 2017 he decided to flee the Carrizales village and join the ELN.

Both individuals said that the Darío Ramírez Castro war front is weakened in its terrorist and logistical structures due to the constant operations that the Seventh Division of the National Army has launched in the area where they commit crimes. By way of example, 10 people were killed while developing military operations in March this year, including alias Cachaco, second in command of that group. For this reason they must move quite often, preventing them from planning and carrying out criminal actions for their strengthening.

These two subjects will be sheltered with the benefits provided by the National Program for Demobilization of the the National Government, ensuring protection for them, their families as well as food and everything necessary to start a new life away from any illegal armed group.

With these results, the Seventh Division of the National Army continues to hit and criminality in the area and weakens the logistical, terrorist and illicit finance networks with which the bandits strengthen their criminal economy.
