National Army frustrates terrorist attack in El Retorno, Guaviare

National Army frustrates terrorist attack in El Retorno, Guaviare Soldiers of the Twenty-Second Jungle Brigade, through their smaller operative units, destroyed 424 explosive devices

Terrorists of the residual organized armed group First Structure installed a propane bomb by the highway of the municipality of El Retorno with the purpose of attacking the troops that advance operations in the sector and the civilian population.
So far in 2018, the Twenty-Second Jungle Brigade, through its smaller operational units, has destroyed 424 explosive devices that threatened the safety and tranquility of the civilian population and the troops deployed in the department of Guaviare.

In the village of La Marina, rural area of the municipality of El Retorno, Guaviare, thanks to the intelligence work carried out by the troops of the Selva Infantry Battalion No. 24 - General Luis Carlos Camacho Leyva and framed in the Diamante Plan and Article 217 of the Constitution, a 40-pound propane bomb was found and subsequently destroyed. The explosive device was loaded with approximately 40 kilograms of pentolite and shrapnel, had great destruction capacity, and belonged to the residual organized armed group First Structure.

Likewise, Military Intelligence reported that these terrorist structures have as their main objective to stop the operations that are being carried out against their main source of financing, which is based on drug trafficking and its derivatives, attacking the public force that watches over the security and welfare of the Guaviare community.

With these results the National Army, through the work developed by the military units attached to the Fourth Division, reiterates the commitment to security and safety for the population from southeast Colombia.
