With this significant operational achievement, the total number of head of cattle recovered and seized by troops of the 12th Brigade so far in 2026 now stands at 690, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to protecting the livestock industry and rural security in the department.
As part of sustained military operations aimed at strengthening security and protecting the assets of rural communities in the department of Caquetá, troops from the 34th Juanambú Infantry Battalion, an organic unit of the National Army’s 12th Brigade, in coordination with the National Police of the municipality of Morelia,
succeeded in apprehending two individuals in the act, who are suspected of the crime of cattle rustling.The operation took place in a rural area of the municipality of Morelia, Caquetá, where, thanks to the rapid response of the troops and coordinated efforts among the authorities, it was possible to recover 36 head of cattle that had apparently been stolen, thereby preventing significant economic damage to producers and rural families in the region.
During the operation, two livestock trucks were seized, allegedly used for the illegal transport of livestock. The vehicles were turned over to the competent authorities as material evidence in the judicial proceedings.
This significant achievement represents a decisive blow against the networks involved in the theft and illegal trade of cattle in the southern part of the country, illicit activities that directly impact the regional economy, the peace of rural communities, and the livelihoods of hundreds of rural families.
Likewise, this operational achievement confirms the effectiveness of the military operations carried out by the 12th Brigade, considering that, so far in 2026, 690 head of livestock have already been recovered and seized in various actions conducted against the crime of cattle rustling in the department of Caquetá.
Those arrested, along with the recovered livestock and seized materials, were handed over to the competent authorities to proceed with the respective legal proceedings.The Twelfth Brigade of the National Army will continue to carry out coordinated and interagency operations to protect the civilian population, strengthen territorial security, and forcefully combat illicit economies that threaten the stability and development of the Amazon region.
