Six pieces of yellow-line and white-line equipment underwent major maintenance and are being delivered today to various military units to bolster infrastructure, mobility, and community support projects.
In compliance with the 2025 Combat Equipment Major Maintenance Directive, the National Army’s Military Engineers successfully completed the comprehensive restoration of six pieces of equipment that will strengthen the operational capabilities of various units within the Corps of Engineers and contribute to the development of infrastructure projects in different regions of the country.
The work was carried out by specialized personnel from the Maintenance Company of the 40th Engineer Maintenance Battalion, a unit that once again demonstrated its high technical and professional standards by performing complex diagnostic procedures, preventive and corrective maintenance, structural restoration, and the replacement of critical components to restore each piece of equipment to operational condition.
Over the course of more than four months of work, a record time that demonstrates the planning, organizational, and disciplinary capabilities of the military and civilian personnel involved, these strategic capabilities were successfully restored.
This maintenance is particularly significant because several of the pieces of equipment had accumulated more than a decade of service, and following the work performed, they will be able to extend their operational life by up to 30 more years, thereby helping to prolong their useful life and optimize government resources.
Among the restored equipment are a well driller, a dual-axle dump truck, a front-end loader, a backhoe, and a vibratory compactor.
During the process, structural restoration and general refurbishment work was carried out, including work on engine systems and electrical components, as well as welding, mechanical adjustments, and general painting.
Colonel Oswaldo Manuel Méndez Lara, commander of the Special Engineers Brigade, highlighted the commitment and dedication demonstrated by the soldiers, non-commissioned officers, officers, and civilian personnel, who contributed their experience, professionalism, and dedication.
For his part, Major Eduin Rodrigo Albornoz Sánchez, an officer with the 40th Engineer Maintenance Battalion, stated that maintenance for four additional pieces of equipment is already being planned, with the aim of continuing to strengthen the operational capabilities of military units and ensuring the efficient use of state resources.
The restoration of this equipment reaffirms the role of the Military Engineers as key players in the country’s transformation and development.
Thanks to these capabilities, it will be possible to continue implementing projects that improve connectivity, facilitate access to remote areas, strengthen national infrastructure, and promote the well-being of thousands of Colombians.
