New commander of the Gaula Military Command conducted troop reconnaissance

The formal ceremony was presided over by Vice Admiral Harry Ernesto Reyna Niño, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Colombian Military Forces. Pursuant to Resolution 061 of 2026, Colonel Reyes assumed command of more than 2,000 men and women who, through 34 Gaula Military groups, work tirelessly for the freedom and security of Colombians.

During the ceremony, the new commander praised the commitment, discipline, and bravery of the soldiers, sailors, and airmen who make up this elite unit, tasked with combating the crimes of kidnapping and extortion through high-impact military operations and prevention strategies throughout the national territory.

Colonel Stick Reyes, an officer in the Cavalry Branch, has more than 25 years of service to his country. He holds a degree in Military Sciences, is a specialist in Military Resource Management for National Defense, and a specialist in National Security and Defense, in addition to other national and international academic studies in administration, military tactics, peace, reconciliation, and international observation. 

His outstanding work has enabled him to undertake assignments and studies abroad. Furthermore, he has served as commander of strategic units and in other strategic positions within the National Army and the General Command of the Military Forces.

Under his leadership, the 28 Gaula groups of the National Army, the 4 of the Colombian Navy, and the 2 joint national elite groups will continue to strengthen their operational, human, and technical capabilities to combat these crimes, working in coordination with the civilian population to protect the freedom and peace of mind of Colombians.
