As part of military operations aimed at combating crimes that affect the country’s strategic assets and illicit economies in the region, troops from the 6th Field Artillery Battalion, through the use of specialized and technological capabilities, as well as the deployment of motorized units and drones,
dealt a significant blow to illicit economies in the township of La Fortuna, in Barrancabermeja, Santander.During the operation, four individuals were arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen goods, and approximately 3,400 gallons of diesel fuel were recovered, which is believed to have been obtained through illicit activities related to fuel theft.
Additionally, two vehicles and five cell phones were seized during this operation, which were allegedly used for the transportation, storage, and coordination of these illegal activities.
Separately, in Puerto Wilches, Santander,
another individual was apprehended while illegally transporting 2,000 gallons of fuel in an NPR-type vehicle, stored in eight transparent plastic containers.These results represent a blow to networks dedicated to the illegal trafficking and sale of hydrocarbons worth over 270 million pesos, thereby weakening their logistical and financial capabilities, while contributing to the protection of the country’s strategic assets and energy resources and the preservation of the environment.
The National Army continues to carry out sustained operations in the region, employing technological and specialized capabilities that enable it to anticipate and neutralize criminal activities that threaten the security and economic stability of the territory.
