During military operations, National Army troops, in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office,
captured Jairo Andrés Ordóñez Marín, alias Mono, in the municipality of Santander de Quilichao, Cauca. He is identified as the alleged finance chief and front man for the residual organized armed group Jacobo Arenas. Western Bloc.
This result follows intelligence work that led to the location of this individual, who is believed to play a strategic role within the illegal organization, particularly in the management of illicit funds and the maintenance of logistical capabilities for carrying out criminal activities in the southwestern part of the country.
According to the information gathered, alias Mono is believed to be the right-hand man of alias Marlon, the leader of this organization, who is suspected of being responsible for the bomb attack carried out on the Pan-American Highway, in which at least 20 people were killed and more than 40 were injured. Likewise, this individual is believed to have ties to the Carlos Patiño group and is involved in coordinating the purchase of explosives, military equipment, weapons, and drones, which are used in attacks against the civilian population and security forces, particularly in the department of Cauca.
Authorities indicate that this individual is directly linked to violent incidents in this region, which demonstrates the scope of his activities within these criminal structures. The suspect has an arrest warrant for crimes related to terrorism, trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of firearms, conspiracy to commit a crime, and trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of narcotics. He also has an extradition warrant for drug trafficking issued by a U.S. District Court in Miami.
Following his capture, the corresponding legal proceedings are underway, while the necessary coordination with international authorities is being carried out to complete the extradition process.
