In a solemn military ceremony presided over by Major General Royer Gómez Herrera, commander of the National Army, the Pedro Pascasio Martínez Rojas Professional Soldiers School commissioned 2,387 heroes of the nation, prepared to strengthen security and sovereignty throughout the national territory.
The cadets received their distinction as professional soldiers after completing ten weeks of demanding technical, tactical, physical, and humanistic training, a process that ensures the delivery of physically resilient, mentally strong, and ethically exemplary men for the service of the nation; comprehensive training and technical specialization for the defense of Colombians.
During these weeks, the cadets completed a rigorous training program that began with four weeks of comprehensive training, focused on discipline, techniques, tactics, and procedures specific to the military arts, followed by specialization in Weapons, Tactics, Technical Skills, and certified specialties.
This highlights strategic profiles in the handling and use of different types of weapons such as rifles, the M-60 machine gun, MGL, 60 mm mortar, and pistol. Similarly, and oriented toward tactical specialties, the program trains ground navigators, tracker scouts, and sharpshooters.
Furthermore, among the profiles sought in personnel specialized in the technical area, those related to tactical combat intelligence, radio operators, and drone and anti-drone team assistants stand out. Finally, and of particular importance, the specialty of explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and military first responders is highlighted.
These skills ensure that the National Army’s personnel have cutting-edge tools to address the challenges of the current operational environment with efficiency and precision.
The ceremony also featured special recognitions, such as the presentation of the Soldier Pedro Pascasio Martínez Rojas Medal to the professional soldiers who ranked first in each Cadet Battalion, a symbol of honor and exceptional commitment to the institution, including Professional Soldier Baquero Contreras Aníbal, Professional Soldier Ortiz Montaño Andrés, Professional Soldier Ramírez Moreno Luis, and Professional Soldier Valencia Olaya Jhon, members of Students Battalions 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively.
This achievement not only represents the culmination of a military educational process but also reaffirms the mission of the Military School for Professional Soldiers as a national benchmark in education and training.
The event was attended by the families, who, as a fundamental pillar of military sacrifice, proudly celebrated this new step in the careers of their loved ones, who are now deploying to various units across the country with excellence as the fundamental premise of their service.
This class is named after the late SLP (Professional Soldier) (R.I.P.) Zambrano González Diego Armando, who gave his life in the line of duty and is honored today for his courage and sacrifice, representing the more than 200,000 soldiers who make up the National Army and are deployed throughout the country.
