After 12 years, the Sixteenth Brigade of the National Army will once again be led and commanded by a Brigadier General. Brigadier General Milton César Escobar Gallego was appointed by the High Command after serving as Director of the National Army's General José María Córdova Military Cadet School (ESMIC).
The event took place during a solemn ceremony at the Campo de Paradas in the Manare military canton. At this important event, Brigadier General Milton César Escobar Gallego formally assumed command of the Sixteenth Brigade, replacing Colonel Carlos Mauricio Peña Jiménez.
The transfer of command was attended by important local authorities, representatives of the Governor's Office, and members of the public forces, who accompanied and offered their support to the outgoing and incoming officers.
Brigadier General Milton Escobar is a graduate of the General José María Córdova Military Cadet School with a degree in Military Sciences, holds a Master's degree in Strategy and Geopolitics from the War College, and is a specialist in Military Resource Management, Military University Teaching, and National Security and Defense. He has completed diploma courses in Human Rights, Sociopolitics, and International Humanitarian Law, and holds diplomas in Military Inspection, Comprehensive Internal Audit Management, Quality Management Systems, Security Management, and Political Science from the Catholic University of Chile.
His distinguished military training includes Special Land Command, Lancero (an elite commando and survival training program), Free Fall, Jump Master, Scout, Parachute Packer, and a course in Anti-Narcotics Operations at Fort Bragg. He has distinguished himself as an instructor at various schools, such as the Military Parachuting School, the General José María Córdova Military Cadet School as a senior officer, and as a student at the War College.
He has been a commander at all ranks, including: Commander of two battalions in the Department of Antioquia and of the 73rd Counterguerrilla Battalion, Commander of the Recruitment Command, and Military Attaché to the Government of the Republic of Chile as a military professor at the War Academy.
This distinguished officer has received more than 21 national and international decorations, as well as 19 national military distinctions. For his performance as a professor at the Chilean War Academy, he was awarded the "Titularis Professor" medal.
During his speech, Brigadier General Milton Escobar expressed his commitment and dedication to continue working for the security and defense of the region, as well as to strengthen ties with the local community. He also thanked Colonel Carlos Peña for his leadership and work during his term in command, highlighting the achievements and progress made during his tenure.
For his part, Colonel Carlos Peña offered his words of gratitude and congratulations to the new commander, highlighting the importance of continuing the projects and work in progress for the benefit of the population and the stability of the area.
The transfer of command in the 16th Brigade represents a significant milestone in the area of security in the Department of Casanare, highlighting the commitment of the authorities and military forces to safeguarding the well-being of the population and maintaining peace in the region.
From now on, Brigadier General Milton César Escobar Gallego assumes responsibility for leading and directing the actions of this important military unit, deployed in the 19 municipalities of the department of Casanare and two municipalities of the department of Boyacá, always seeking the benefit of the community and the development of the region, highlighting the new policy of the current government, Colombia, a world power of life, ensuring the protection of citizens, the defense of sovereignty in the Colombian Orinoquía, and the promotion of a safe environment that allows for the development and peaceful coexistence of the people of Casanare.
