A source of national pride, a Colombian colonel excels in one of the world’s most demanding military academic environments

Selected for his merits and career achievements after 29 years of service to his country, the officer shared classrooms with 376 students, including 78 international officers from 74 countries and 298 members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

In this multicultural and academically rigorous environment, he carried with him not only his military uniform but also Colombia’s name and operational experience.

His outstanding performance allowed him to earn a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies as a Distinguished Graduate. Additionally, his research project was recognized as the winning thesis in the Military History category, receiving the Colonel and Mrs. Thomas F. Bristol Award—an achievement that highlights the professional and academic excellence of the men and women of the National Army.

During his training, he strengthened his knowledge of national and military strategy, joint warfare, defense administration, military sciences applied at the operational level, and advanced strategy, fundamental competencies for addressing the security challenges of the 21st century.
