Criminal networks hid marijuana inside rolls of hose to transport it along roads in Huila

The military operation also led to the arrest of a man caught in the act, who was allegedly transporting the narcotics in an FTR-type vehicle, using a hiding method designed to evade checkpoints set up by the National Army along the department’s main road corridors.

During the operation, soldiers detected irregularities in the vehicle’s cargo. Upon conducting a thorough inspection of the 18 rolls of plastic hose, they found the narcotic substance inside.

The marijuana had reportedly been compacted and molded into a cylindrical shape to be subsequently inserted into the hoses, a strategy used to make it difficult to detect during checks by law enforcement.

The troops’ experience and operational capabilities made it possible to uncover this method of concealment, preventing the shipment from reaching illegal markets for illicit substances. The proceeds from this illegal activity were allegedly intended to fund the criminal activities of organized armed groups.

According to military intelligence, the shipment allegedly belongs to the Óscar Mondragón finance commission of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Teófilo Forero Castro structure.

The suspect, the vehicle, the narcotics, and a cell phone seized during the operation, which was carried out with judicial support from the National Police, were turned over to the competent authorities for the respective legal proceedings.
