In addition to the troops’ offensive, the institutional presence continues to yield results in the fight against illegal armed groups.
During sustained military operations aimed at protecting the civilian population and strengthening security in the southern part of the country, troops from the 35th Infantry Battalion of the 12th Brigade of the National Army
succeeded in bringing a member of a residual organized armed group, belonging to the Raúl Reyes structure, to justice in a rural area of the municipality of La Montañita, Caquetá department. The incident occurred on April 2, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., when this individual
voluntarily decided to abandon the illicit activities he had been carrying out within this illegal organization and avail himself of the benefits offered by the Colombian State through the surrender process. This process was carried out while ensuring respect for his human rights at all times and in compliance with the protocols established for this type of procedure.
According to initial reports, the individual who surrendered is believed to be part of the support networks of the Raúl Reyes structure, a group operating in this region of the country that has been the target of constant operations by the security forces, as part of a comprehensive strategy to weaken illicit economies and neutralize the capabilities of these illegal organizations.
This operational result reflects the constant pressure exerted by troops in the territory, as well as the coordinated work among the various units of the 12th Brigade, which seek not only to disrupt criminal structures but also to build trust among the population and promote legal alternatives for those who decide to lay down their arms.
The Twelfth Brigade of the National Army reaffirms its commitment to the security, stability, and well-being of the residents of the department of Caquetá, while inviting members of residual organized armed groups to surrender to justice and avail themselves of the comprehensive support programs offered by the national government, as a real opportunity to rebuild their lives within the law.
Likewise, forceful and sustained military operations will continue to be carried out to counter any threat that undermines the peace of communities, reaffirming the firm institutional commitment to consolidating safe and peaceful territories.
