Guardians of life: 38 new canine nurses serving Colombia

This course, considered one of the most important training programs in the field of military animal health, is designed to train personnel in basic and emergency medical care for dogs in both rural and urban areas, in accordance with the operational procedures established by the Military Forces.

During their training, the students acquired skills in first aid, animal health, patient stabilization, emergency management, and support in clinical procedures, enabling them to serve as veterinary assistants in demanding scenarios where the lives of these dog-handler teams depend on timely and specialized care.

Military dogs play a strategic role in explosives detection, search and rescue, area control, and security operations, becoming a fundamental support for protecting lives and fulfilling the institutional mission.
