The 10th Brigade of the National Army, in coordination with the Cesar Governor’s Office, is leading this initiative, which aims to bring solidarity and support to families affected by the earthquake that occurred on August 10.
The solidarity of the people of Cesar was evident. On the first day of the fundraising drive for earthquake victims, the 10th Brigade of the National Army, through its 1st Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion, in coordination with the Cesar Governor’s Office, managed to collect more than 10 tons of humanitarian aid that will be distributed to communities in the hardest-hit areas.
From early in the morning, citizens, businesses, trade associations, and public entities joined this initiative by donating non-perishable food, hygiene kits, sleeping mats, blankets, and other essential items to meet the needs of families currently facing difficult times.
More than just a number, these 10 tons represent hundreds of acts of solidarity and the desire of the people of Cesar to lend a helping hand to those who need it most. “Every donation counts. Behind every food item, every blanket, and every item donated is a family from Cesar who decided to help. This response shows that, in the face of adversity, we Colombians know how to come together and support one another,” emphasized Colonel Harold Schmidt, Chief of Staff of the 10th Brigade.
To facilitate the receipt, sorting, and organization of the aid, two collection points were set up at the Cesar Governor’s Office Plaza and at the Guatapurí Shopping Mall, where the drive will continue over the next few days.
Soldiers from the 1st Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion have mobilized their logistical and human resources to receive, sort, pack, and store the donations, which will later be transported to the areas in need of this support.
The 10th Brigade invites citizens, businesses, trade associations, and organizations in the department to continue supporting this cause. Every contribution can become food, warmth, or hope for a family in Colombia that needs help today.
