National Army prevents the ELN armed group from selling more than half a ton of cocaine hydrochloride in Norte de Santander

As part of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, soldiers from the 5th Medium Cavalry Group “General Hermógenes Maza” of the 30th Brigade, in support of the National Police’s Anti-Narcotics Directorate, located and subsequently dismantled a cocaine hydrochloride processing complex consisting of seven makeshift structures, in the rural area of Uribante, in the municipality of Salazar de las Palmas, Norte de Santander.

During the operation, 816 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, 120 kilograms of coca base paste, 907 gallons of liquid chemicals, and 165 kilograms of solid chemicals were seized, along with clothing used in the processing of narcotics.

This operation disrupted the illicit revenues of this criminal organization by more than 4,161 million pesos and prevented the distribution of more than 816,000 doses, according to estimates by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Likewise, the operation prevented the proceeds from this illicit activity from being used to finance terrorist acts against the security forces.

With this result, the National Army reaffirms its commitment to the fight against drug trafficking and strengthens security measures aimed at neutralizing any threat that seeks to endanger the safety and peace of the residents of Norte de Santander.
