National Army saves the life of an indigenous girl bitten by a snake in Caquetá

In a timely humanitarian response, soldiers from the 35th Light Infantry Battalion “Héroes del Güepí,” part of the National Army’s 12th Brigade, carried out an aeromedical evacuation operation to save the life of a minor from the Coreguaje indigenous community, who suffered a snake bite in the rural area of Agua Negraof the municipality of Milán, Caquetá.

Upon learning of the emergency, the troops immediately deployed their operational capabilities and coordinated the support of an aircraft from the Colombian Aerospace Force, which allowed the transfer of the minor from this remote region of the department to a medical facility, where she is receiving specialized medical care.

The soldiers’ swift action and inter-agency coordination were crucial in providing a timely response to this situation, demonstrating once again the Military Forces’ commitment to protecting the lives and well-being of communities living in the most remote areas of the country.

This type of operation reflects the ongoing work carried out by the National Army to support the civilian population, especially indigenous and rural communities that, due to the geographical conditions of their territories, face greater challenges in accessing health services in a timely manner.
