National Army thwarted a tragedy by destroying ten explosive devices in Guaviare

During offensive military operations, troops from the 33rd Rapid Deployment Battalion, part of the 11th Rapid Deployment Force, located and carried out the controlled destruction of a launch device and ten improvised explosive devices, believed to belong to the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc, Jhon Linares Structure residual organized armed group, in the rural area of Termales, municipality of El Retorno, Guaviare.

The military operation was carried out by personnel specialized in explosives and demolition, who performed the controlled destruction of the cylindrical, homemade devices, preventing them from being used to attack troops or the civilian population traveling through this area. This outcome neutralizes a criminal capability that endangered the lives, physical integrity, and freedom of movement of rural communities.

The National Army condemns the indiscriminate use of improvised explosive devices by residual organized armed groups, as it constitutes a serious violation of human rights and international humanitarian law. This operational success continues to weaken the criminal activities of these groups and reaffirms the institution’s commitment to protecting communities and maintaining security in southeastern Colombia.
