New Commander takes on the challenge of strengthening security in the Amazon

This senior officer in the Infantry has a solid academic and professional background that supports his leadership. He is a specialist in Military Resource Management for National Defense, holds a specialization in National Security and Defense, and is a specialist in Human Resource Management. His training is complemented by studies in Military Sciences, Human Rights, and training in Command in Peace Operations, among other areas of expertise that strengthen his profile as a well-rounded leader.

With more than 27 years of service in the National Army, the new commander has demonstrated commitment, discipline, and dedication, establishing himself as a natural leader with the necessary experience to assume command of this important military unit in the Amazon.

In his new position, he will be responsible for coordinating strategic efforts with neighboring countries such as Peru and Brazil, strengthening international cooperation for border protection and regional security.

Likewise, Colonel Rodríguez Contreras will take on the challenge of firmly combating the illicit economies affecting the region, the main sources of funding for illegal organized armed groups, thereby contributing to the stability and development of the Colombian Amazon.

The National Army reaffirms its commitment to the security, sovereignty, and well-being of Colombians, under the leadership of men and women who, with honor and a dedication to service, work tirelessly for peace and the defense of the national territory.
