During the military ceremony, 309 new men and women were promoted to the rank of second lieutenant; they will contribute to the fulfillment of our constitutional mission throughout the national territory.
In a solemn military ceremony presided over by the President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro Urrego, alongside the Minister of National Defense and the military high command and police leadership, we strengthened our institutional leadership with the promotion of our commander, General Royer Gómez Herrera, to the highest rank of the officer corps.
Our commander is a native of Lebrija, Santander, and has served the nation for more than 35 years.
He holds a degree in Military Sciences and is a Civil Engineer. He has held important command and leadership positions within our institution, notably serving as Chief of Staff for Operations of the National Army, Commander of the First Division, Commander of Omega Joint Task Force, and Commander of Rapid Deployment Force No. 1, among others. His promotion to the rank of general is a recognition of an exemplary career marked by service, leadership, and commitment to Colombia.
During the ceremony, 309 new officers were also promoted to the rank of second lieutenant, having successfully completed their military, academic, and ethical training at the General José María Córdova Military Cadet School.
These men and women will assume the responsibility of leading our military units in different regions of the country, guided by the principles of honor, discipline, loyalty, respect, and a dedication to service, contributing to the protection of Colombians and the strengthening of national security.
With these promotions, we reaffirm our commitment to excellence, leadership, and the training of those whose mission is to serve Colombia with professionalism, integrity, and absolute faith in the cause.
