Rapid Deployment Force No. 11 held its military command transfer ceremony this Friday, presided over by Brigadier General Mario Geovanni Contreras Guinneme, commander of the Omega Task Force, during which Colonel William Miguel Chinome Rojas assumed command of this National Army unit, ensuring the continuity of military operations that contribute to the security, defense, and protection of the population in the departments of Guaviare and southern Meta.
This Friday, July 3, at the facilities of the Southeast Military Headquarters in San José del Guaviare, the military command transfer ceremony for Rapid Deployment Force No. 11 took place, presided over by Brigadier General Mario Geovanni Contreras Guinneme, commander of the Omega Task Force of the National Army, a formal ceremony in which Colonel Alexánder Cuenca Galindo handed over command of the unit’s more than 1,600 soldiers to Colonel William Miguel Chinome Rojas. The ceremony was attended by military, police, ecclesiastical, and civilian authorities at the municipal and departmental levels.
Colonel William Miguel Chinome Rojas, an officer in the Infantry Branch, has an extensive track record of service to the National Army and to Colombia. He holds a degree in Military Sciences and has specializations in the Command and Administration of Military Units, the Administration of Military Resources for National Defense, and National Security and Defense.
Throughout his career, he has held key operational and General Staff positions, including Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of Rapid Deployment Force No. 11—an experience that has given him firsthand insight into the operational and social dynamics of his area of responsibility.
Throughout more than two decades of service, the officer has received numerous military and government decorations recognizing his leadership, institutional commitment, and achievements in the service of the country. His training as a Lancero (an elite commando and survival training program), military paratrooper, and infantry officer strengthens the command capabilities he will now bring to bear on the operations carried out by Omega Task Force in this strategic region of the country.
With this transfer of command, the National Army reaffirms its commitment to maintaining operational continuity, strengthening inter-institutional coordination, and continuing to work tirelessly for the security, defense, and well-being of the residents of Guaviare and southern Meta, thereby consolidating the population’s trust in state institutions.
