As part of the commemoration of the 207th anniversary of Military Logistics in the Colombian National Army, the School of Logistics held an academic symposium that brought together national and international experts, members of the Military Forces, and representatives from academia and the business sector to analyze the challenges, advances, and prospects of logistics in the military, government, and business spheres.
The academic event served as a forum for reflection and the exchange of knowledge, highlighting the fundamental role of logistics as a strategic pillar for sustaining institutional capabilities, interoperability, innovation, and the conduct of military operations.
The event featured prominent international speakers, including Colonel Amy E. Downing and Captain Dayne Dawson, logistics officers from the United States Army, who shared their experiences regarding regional cooperation, strategic sustainment, and logistics transformation in modern operational scenarios.
Also present on this occasion was Dr. Fernando Mato, Oracle’s Executive AI Advisor for Latin America, who presented a vision on the application of artificial intelligence in national defense and the challenges of technological sovereignty, while engineer John Fredy Rey Díaz addressed the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence in public procurement processes.
The event also featured a panel discussion with renowned experts in logistics, security, and the supply chain, including Major General (ret.) Robinson Ramírez, Aura Díaz Bonilla, Director of Logistics at Analdex, and Dr. Yesid González, a professor and researcher at the ESLOG Higher Education Institution, who analyzed the current challenges in logistics from the perspectives of the defense, business, and academic sectors.
The commemoration of 207 years of Military Logistics served to honor the historical legacy of the men and women who, over more than two centuries, have ensured the support, supply, mobility, and sustainment of military operations, contributing decisively to the fulfillment of the National Army’s constitutional mission.
Through this symposium, the School of Logistics reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and the strengthening of logistics capabilities—which are essential for addressing the challenges of the current and future environments—thereby consolidating a modern, interoperable logistics system at the service of Colombia.
