Troops from Omega Task Force captured two alleged members of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc GAO-r

During joint, coordinated, and interagency military operations, troops from the National Army’s 1st Direct Action and Reconnaissance Battalion, the Colombian Aerospace Force, and the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (DIJIN) of the National Police, two individuals were apprehended in the rural area of San Antonio Alto, Puerto Cachicamo District of the municipality of San José del Guaviare, in the department of Guaviare, as a result of ongoing efforts to protect the civilian population and neutralize the capabilities of residual organized armed groups operating in this region of the country.

According to military intelligence, the individual known by the alias Vivi Puñaleto was allegedly a member of the terrorist support networks of the Jhon Linares faction of the residual organized armed group led by Jorge Suárez Briceño, which operates in the municipalities of La Macarena and San José del Guaviare. He is also accused of participating in multiple criminal acts against law enforcement and the civilian population, including the placement of improvised explosive devices and the preparation of booby-trapped areas in rural zones of Meta and Guaviare.

An arrest warrant has also been issued for this individual for crimes related to homicide, aggravated homicide, aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime, and the trafficking, manufacture, or possession of firearms. He is considered a high-value target by the authorities due to his alleged criminal history within that organization.

During the operation, military equipment was also seized, consisting of a 9-millimeter pistol, a magazine, and ammunition for the weapon. These items were turned over to the competent authorities along with the detainees to facilitate the necessary urgent actions and judicial proceedings.

The National Army’s Omega Task Force will continue to carry out sustained military operations in southeastern Colombia, aimed at disrupting the criminal structures that threaten community security, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the civilian population, ensuring the stability of the territory, and fulfilling its constitutional mission.
