Using night-vision goggles, the Army Aviation supports firefighting efforts in Tolima

The aerial operation was conducted using night vision goggles (NVGs), allowing firefighting efforts to be concentrated in the areas most severely affected and at highest risk.

Over the two days, a total of 32 water drops were made, using 71,800 gallons of water.

In coordination with the mayor of San Luis, Ricardo Andrés Acosta Salas, priority was given to concentrating the water drops in the area where homes are located, with the aim of reducing the risk to the civilian population, protecting natural resources, and helping to control the wildfire.

These actions reaffirm the National Army Aviation’s commitment to the timely response to emergencies, the protection of communities, and the preservation of the environment through the use of its specialized aerial capabilities.
