More than 20 rifles of various types, 7 drones, nearly 300 grenades, and ammunition were seized in Yumbo, Valle del Cauca, following effective military intelligence operations that pinpointed their location and revealed their intended destination in the department of Guaviare. The war material was reportedly intended to bolster the criminal activities of the Armando Ríos residual structure in the eastern part of the country.
In parallel with the implementation of Plan Democracy, troops from Rapid Deployment Force No. 5 of the Third Division, in coordination with the National Police, continue to carry out offensive operations against organized armed groups. A new strategic blow to the logistical capabilities of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r), the Mordisco Faction, was dealt with the seizure of a significant shipment of war material and drones in the municipality of Yumbo, Valle del Cauca.
During the military operation, 26 rifles of various types, approximately 300 magazines, 6,300 rounds of ammunition, nearly 300 grenades intended for use on drones, and 7 of these drones were seized, all of which were to be used to carry out criminal acts against the security forces and the civilian population.
According to military intelligence that led to the discovery of the shipment, this material had been sent by alias Marlon, a leader recently neutralized in military operations, and was intended to strengthen the armed capabilities of the Armando Ríos group operating in San José del Guaviare, once again highlighting the logistical and criminal networks these groups seek to maintain to sustain their terrorist activities.
The route identified by military units involved the transport of the rifles, drones, and ammunition from the Naya region, in the Buenaventura area of Valle del Cauca, to the eastern part of the country. This criminal group intended to take advantage of the recent national election to move the material more easily and reduce the likelihood of detection by authorities.
This result represents another significant blow to the offensive, mobility, and sustainment capabilities of the residual organized armed group, while reaffirming the effectiveness of intelligence efforts and the commitment of the soldiers of the Third Division to protecting the national territory through offensive operations against the criminal activities of illegal groups.
