A total of 105 men and 49 women, from the Girardot Company and the regular course, selected a position within the branches of Communications, Intelligence, Artillery, Infantry, Cavalry, Logistics, and Military Engineering.
On a momentous day for their military training,
cadets from the Girardot and Cabal companies carried out the first branch selection of 2026, a process that sets the professional and vocational course for those who will join the various branches of the National Army.
On this occasion, participants included students from the regular course, consisting of 154 cadets (105 men and 49 women) from the Girardot Company, as well as 95 students from the special course of the Cabal Company, who are given this opportunity after having previously served as non-commissioned officers, allowing them to advance another step in their military careers.
This selection process is of fundamental importance, as it determines the branch in which each future officer will develop their leadership, tactical skills, and professional trajectory throughout their career in the institution.
The combat branches, as the essential backbone of the National Army, constitute the backbone of the defense of sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, demanding commitment, discipline, and a dedication to service from their members. The cadets of the Girardot Company, belonging to the regular course, are scheduled to be promoted to the rank of second lieutenant in July 2027, while the members of the Cabal Company, from the special course, will attain this rank in December 2026, thus consolidating their transition into the officer corps.
The allocation of slots, both regular and special, is carried out in accordance with institutional needs and the cadets’ capabilities, ensuring a strategic balance across the Army’s various branches. This process also reflects the merit, academic, physical, and military performance of each student, who responsibly accepts the decision that will guide them throughout their entire career.
The Military Cadet School thus reaffirms its commitment to training leaders of integrity, prepared to face the challenges of the operational environment, who, from their chosen branch, will contribute to the fulfillment of the constitutional mission of the Colombian National Army.Source:
