Brigadier General Juan Oduber Rendón Pérez assumed command of the National Training Center during a military ceremony presided over by the Inspector General of the National Army at Tolemaida Military Fort. At the event, senior military leadership highlighted the leadership of Brigadier General Federico Alberto Mejía Torres, who, over the course of nearly a year, strengthened operational training, personnel welfare, sports, and security at this military garrison through the implementation of the SIGAP platform.
In a solemn military ceremony presided over by Major General Giovanni Rodríguez León, Inspector General of the National Army, and senior officers of the institution, the transfer of command took place at the National Training Center (CENAE), one of the most important strategic units for the operational readiness of the Military Forces. During the ceremony, the high command welcomed Brigadier General Juan Oduber Rendón Pérez as the new commander of this iconic unit and praised the leadership of Brigadier General Federico Alberto Mejía Torres during his nearly one-year tenure at the helm of CENAE.
As part of the ceremony, the Army Inspector highlighted the leadership, commitment, and achievements of Brigadier General Federico Alberto Mejía Torres, who spearheaded important initiatives aimed at strengthening operational training, the well-being of military personnel and their families, and the promotion of sports as a fundamental pillar of the physical fitness of the institution’s men and women.
He also highlighted the impact of implementing the SIGAP platform, a technological tool that strengthened security, identification, control, and traceability processes for individuals and vehicles entering and exiting the Tolemaida Military Fort, thereby consolidating this garrison as a model military city.
The Army Inspector announced that Brigadier General Federico Alberto Mejía Torres will continue to serve as commander of the Education and Doctrine Command (CEDOC), from where he will continue to lead efforts to strengthen the education, training, and doctrine of the men and women of the National Army.
Brigadier General Juan Oduber Rendón Pérez officially assumed command of the National Training Center with a commitment to continue strengthening the education, training, and instruction of military units, while maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence.
The new commander was born on May 3, 1974, in Yolombó, Antioquia. He entered the General José María Córdova Military Cadet School on February 16, 1993, and graduated as a second lieutenant on December 1, 1994. He is an officer in the Infantry Branch and has extensive operational experience, supported by combat courses such as Lancero (elite and survival commando), Parachuting, Jump Master, and Military Police Procedures.
His solid academic background includes a degree in Military Sciences, a specialization in National Security and Defense, a degree in Business Administration, a Master of Science, and a Master’s degree in Strategy and Geopolitics, complementing a career characterized by leadership and strategic preparedness.
Throughout his military career, he has received significant decorations, including the Battle of Ayacucho Medal, the José María Córdova Order of Military Merit, the Antonio Nariño Order of Military Merit, and the Order of Boyacá, one of the highest distinctions awarded by the Colombian government. Before taking on this new challenge, he served as commander of the Third Brigade of the National Army, a position he had held since December 22, 2023.
With this transfer of command, the National Training Center begins a new phase aimed at continuing to consolidate the operational capabilities of Colombia’s soldiers, strengthening training, innovation, and security in service of the National Army’s constitutional mission.
