In a solemn military ceremony, the transfer of command took place at the National Army’s Combined Arms School (ESACE), a military unit responsible for the comprehensive training of men and women who periodically strengthen their skills and capabilities to fulfill the constitutional mission.
The event was attended by senior military officers and family members, who joined in this significant ceremony for the strategic direction of officer and non-commissioned officer training. During the ceremony, the outgoing commander, Colonel Jesús María Garzón López, highlighted the achievements made, emphasizing the strengthening of academic processes, the rigor of comprehensive training, and the ongoing commitment to educational and operational excellence.
The leadership of the National Army’s Combined Arms School is assumed by Colonel Edinson Muñoz Granobles, who previously served as deputy director of ESACE, a role that has allowed him to gain firsthand knowledge of the academic and administrative processes carried out there. His appointment ensures continuity, stability, and institutional growth.
Colonel Muñoz is an officer in the Infantry Branch with a career spanning more than 27 years, and whose resume reflects commitment, leadership, and a dedication to service. The new commander holds a degree in military sciences, with specializations in National Security and Defense and University Teaching, and also possesses solid training in strategic areas such as security, planning, and operations, among others.
Throughout his career, he has held positions of high responsibility; in recent years, he has served as an operations officer for the Omega Joint Task Force and as commander of the 5th General José María Córdova Mechanized Infantry Battalion, where he demonstrated his ability to make decisions, lead troops, and execute complex operations. His experience in operational and administrative settings has allowed him to develop a comprehensive vision of command, based on leadership, discipline, and institutional excellence.
Among his awards are the José María Córdova Order of Military Merit, the Ayacucho Military Medal, the Antonio Nariño Order of Military Merit, and the Medal of Honor for Duty Fulfilled from the 28th Airborne Infantry Battalion of Colombia, among others, which demonstrate his commitment to duty and his contribution to the institutional mission. His leadership has been characterized by promoting institutional principles and values and the well-being of personnel.
During his remarks, the new director stated: “I assume this command with humility and responsibility, aware of the fundamental role that the Combined Arms School plays in training leaders of integrity. We will continue to work as a team and with total dedication to strengthen military education, which is the essential foundation for the fulfillment of our mission.”
