After several hours of travel by land from Bogotá, food, drinking water, basic necessities, and items to ensure the rest and well-being of affected families arrived in the department to be distributed by National Army soldiers in the municipalities hardest hit by the winter storm.
When the rains change everything and hundreds of families see their homes and peace of mind disrupted, solidarity also sets out on a long journey. During a several-hour overland journey from Bogotá, the National Army transported more than 8 tons of humanitarian aid to the department of Casanare, with the aim of alleviating the difficult conditions faced by communities hit by the intense rainy season. Every kilometer traveled represented the soldiers’ commitment to those who are now waiting for a helping hand in the midst of the emergency.
This significant logistical effort will ensure that non-perishable food, drinking water, clothing, sleeping mats, hygiene kits, basic necessities, and other supplies reach those who need them most. Every item of aid delivered represents a message of hope and the constant presence of an institution that stands by Colombians when they need it most.
The municipalities of San Luis de Palenque, Pore, Hato Corozal, La Salina, Paz de Ariporo, Nunchía, and Trinidad have suffered severe damage as a result of several tributaries overflowing. The floods have impacted both urban and rural areas, leaving numerous families displaced, causing material losses, and leaving communities that now require the resolute support of institutions.
The aid will be distributed by soldiers of the National Army, who continue to deploy their capabilities to ensure that each of these resources reaches the affected families in a timely manner. At the same time, troops maintain a permanent presence in the hardest-hit areas, assisting with evacuations, transporting supplies, conducting assessments of the affected areas, and supporting the population throughout the emergency.
Beyond their constitutional mission, the men and women of the National Army reaffirm their commitment to service by being where Colombians need them most. In every humanitarian operation, every aid package delivered, and every family supported, they demonstrate that protecting life also means reaching out, listening, and standing with communities in times of greatest adversity.
